Suvarṇa-dāna: Kārttikeya’s Origin and the Defeat of Tāraka (सुवर्णदान-प्रसङ्गे कार्त्तिकेय-उत्पत्ति तथा तारकवधः)
ब्रह्म॒चर्येण तपसा यत्नेन च दमेन च,शक््य: समासादयितुं गोलोकः: पुष्करेक्षण । कमलनयन इन्द्र! ब्रह्मचर्य, तपस्या, यत्न, इन्द्रियसंयम, नाना प्रकारके दान, पुण्य, तीर्थसेवन, महान् तप और अन्यान्य शुभ कर्मोंके अनुष्ठानसे ही गोलोककी प्राप्ति हो सकती है
brahmacaryeṇa tapasā yatnena ca damena ca, śakyaḥ samāsādayituṃ golokaḥ puṣkarekṣaṇa.
Bhīṣma said: “O lotus-eyed one, Goloka can be attained only through disciplined brahmacarya, austerity, sustained effort, and self-restraint. Such a supreme state is reached not by mere desire but by the steady practice of virtuous observances—control of the senses, meritorious giving, pilgrimage, great tapas, and other auspicious deeds.”
