ततः प्रोवाच ब्रह्मा तं शक्रं बलनिषूदनम्‌ । अवज्ञातास्त्वया नित्यं गावो बलनिषूदन,तब ब्रह्माजीने बलसूदन इन्द्रसे कहा--“बलासुरका विनाश करनेवाले देवेन्द्र! तुमने सदा गौओंकी अवहेलना की है। प्रभो! इसीलिये तुम इनका माहात्म्य नहीं जानते। सुरश्रेष्ठ! गौओंका महान्‌ प्रभाव और माहात्म्य मैं बताता हूँ, सुनो

tataḥ provāca brahmā taṃ śakraṃ balanīṣūdanam | avajñātās tvayā nityaṃ gāvo balanīṣūdana ||

Then Brahmā addressed Śakra (Indra), the slayer of Bala: “O Bala’s destroyer, you have continually shown disregard for the cows. Therefore you do not truly know their greatness. O best of the gods, listen as I explain the mighty power and sacred majesty of the cow.”
