उवाच धर्मराजानं निर्विण्णो5ध्ययनेन वै | यो मे कालो भवेच्छेषस्तं वसेयमिहाच्युत,धर्मराजके इस प्रकार आदेश देनेपर अध्ययनसे ऊबे हुए उस समागत ब्राह्मणने उनसे कहा--:'धर्मसे कभी च्युत न होनेवाले देव! मेरे जीवनका जो समय शेष रह गया है, उसमें मैं यहीं रहूँगा'

uvāca dharmarājānaṃ nirviṇṇo 'dhyayanena vai | yo me kālo bhavec cheṣas taṃ vaseyam ihācyuta ||

Bhīṣma said: Wearied by continual study, the brāhmaṇa addressed Dharmarāja: “O Acyuta—one who never swerves from dharma—whatever time remains to me in this life, I shall dwell here.”
