Nṛga-upākhyāna: Brāhmaṇa-sva and the Consequence of Misappropriated Gift-Cattle (कृकलास-रूपे नृगोपाख्यानम्)

तिलहोमरता विदप्रा: सर्वे संयतमै थुना: । समा गव्येन हविषा प्रवृत्तिषु च संस्थिता:

Bhīṣma said: All those Brahmins, learned in the Vedas and restrained in conduct, were devoted to offering sesame into the sacred fire (tilahoma), keeping themselves apart from sexual union. Sesame is held fit to be havis, like cow’s ghee; therefore it is accepted in sacrifices (yajñas) and is needed in many rites and duties.
