Bhishma said: Whoever has this account of the origin and greatness of gifting land recited at the time of the śrāddha, for him no portion of the offering becomes available to rākṣasas or asuras.

Reciting or hearing the teaching on the origin and sanctity of land-gift during śrāddha safeguards the rite: the offering’s intended share is not diverted to hostile beings (rākṣasas/asuras), underscoring the power of right knowledge, proper ritual context, and dharmic intention.
In Bhīṣma’s instruction on dāna-dharma within the Anuśāsana Parva, he states a specific śrāddha-related fruit: if this account concerning bhūmi-dāna is recited at the ancestral rite, the offerings remain protected from interference by malevolent beings.
