Bhishma said: “We have heard that even those who have given only a little piece of land obtain the complete fruit of a land-gift. Indeed, all who give land are regarded as having given ‘the earth’ itself; and people enjoy that very land (in the hereafter) as their reward.”

Educational Q&A

Even a small gift of land yields the full merit of land-donation; giving land is treated as giving the earth itself, and the donor enjoys that reward.

Bhishma, instructing on dharma and gifts, cites received tradition (śruti/report) to emphasize the exceptional spiritual efficacy of bhūmi-dāna.
