पुनाति य इदं वेद वेदवादं तथैव च । प्रकृति: सर्वभूतानां भूमिर्वैश्वानरी मता,जो वेदवाणीरूप इस भूमिगाथाको जानता है, वह भी अपनी दस पीढ़ियोंको पवित्र कर देता है। यह पृथ्वी सम्पूर्ण प्राणियोंकी उत्पत्तिस्थान है और अग्नि इसका अधिष्ठाता देवता है

punāti ya idaṁ veda vedavādaṁ tathaiva ca | prakṛtiḥ sarvabhūtānāṁ bhūmir vaiśvānarī matā ||

Bhishma said: Whoever truly knows this teaching—this Vedic doctrine as well—becomes a purifier. The Earth is regarded as the primal source of all beings, and is held to be ‘Vaiśvānara’, presided over by the universal Fire, Agni. Thus, knowledge of this sacred account is praised as sanctifying, linking ethical purity with reverence for the Earth as the common origin of life and for Agni as its divine governor.
