Adhyāya 60: Dāna vs. Yajña—Royal Giving, Protection, and Karmic Share

पितामहस्यानवरो वीरशायी भवेन्नर: । नाधथिकं विद्यते यस्मादित्याहु: परमर्षय:,'संग्रामभूमिमें वीरशय्यापर शयन करनेवाला पुरुष ब्रह्माजीके समान हो जाता है। ब्रह्माजीसे बढ़कर कुछ भी नहीं है--ऐसा महर्षियोंका कथन है”

pitāmahasyānavaro vīraśāyī bhavennaraḥ | nādhikaṁ vidyate yasmād ityāhuḥ paramarṣayaḥ ||

Vaiśampāyana said: “A man who lies upon the hero’s bed (i.e., falls in battle) becomes no less than the Grandfather (Brahmā). Since nothing is held to be higher than him, the supreme seers declare this.”
