Vaiśampāyana said: “O King, the twice-born man who bathes daily and performs the twilight worship at both times, along with the recitation of the Gāyatrī, becomes discerning and wise. Those who renounce the use of water for bodily comforts in austere practice, and those who live without food, attain the world of heaven. Those who sleep upon bare ground obtain houses and beds; and by wearing garments of bark and rags, one gains excellent clothing and ornaments.”
