On the Fruits of Austerity and Giving

The king looked all about and beheld, on every side, delightful creatures rejoicing. Parrots and sārika birds, speaking as though with human voices, chattered and sang. Bhr̥ṅgarāja, cuckoos, śatapatra, koyasṭi, kukkubha, peacocks, cocks, dātyūha, jīvajīvaka, cakora, monkeys, swans, cranes, and cakravāka, and many others—charming beasts and birds—wandered happily in every direction.
