तत् श्र॒ुत्वा स मुनिस्तुष्टो विपुलस्य प्रतापवान् । बभूव शीलवृत्ता भ्यां तपसा नियमेन च,यह सुनकर प्रतापी मुनि देवशर्मा विपुलके शील, सदाचार, तप और नियमसे बहुत संतुष्ट हुए
tat śrutvā sa munis tuṣṭo vipulasya pratāpavān | babhūva śīla-vṛttābhyāṁ tapasā niyamena ca ||
Hearing this, the powerful sage became pleased with Vipula—satisfied by his good character and conduct, and by his austerity and disciplined observances.
भीष्म उवाच
True worth is measured by character and conduct, supported by austerity and disciplined restraint; such integrated virtue naturally earns the approval of the wise.
Bhishma narrates that after hearing what had been said, the sage becomes genuinely pleased with Vipula, recognizing his moral character, proper behavior, and disciplined ascetic practice.
