nārada uvāca: śṛṇu govinda yān etān pūjayāmi arimardana | tvatto 'nyaḥ kaḥ pumān loke śrotum etad ihārhati ||
Nārada said: “Listen, O Govinda, O crusher of foes, as I describe those whom I worship. For who else in this world, other than you, is truly worthy to hear this account here?”
नारद उवाच
The verse emphasizes discernment in spiritual discourse: sacred accounts of worship and virtue should be shared with a truly qualified listener. By declaring Kṛṣṇa the most worthy hearer, Nārada highlights reverence, humility, and the ethical principle that teaching is most fruitful when received by one fit to understand and uphold it.
Nārada addresses Kṛṣṇa (Govinda), asking him to listen as Nārada is about to describe those whom he venerates. He frames the forthcoming description as something Kṛṣṇa uniquely deserves to hear, thereby setting a respectful tone and elevating Kṛṣṇa’s status as the ideal recipient of dharma-related instruction.
