Pūjya-namaskārya-prakaraṇa

On Those Worthy of Honor and Salutation

एवमुक्तो मतड़स्तु भृूशं॑ शोकपरायण: । अध्यतिष्ठद्‌ गयां गत्वा सों5गुछ्ठेन शतं समा:,उनके ऐसा कहनेपर मतंग अत्यन्त शोकमग्न हो गयामें जाकर अंगूठेके बलपर सौ वर्षोतक खड़ा रहा

śakra uvāca | evam ukto mataṅgas tu bhṛśaṃ śokaparāyaṇaḥ | adhyatiṣṭhad gayāṃ gatvā so’ṅguṣṭhena śataṃ samāḥ |

Thus addressed, Mataṅga—overwhelmed by intense sorrow—went to Gayā and undertook a severe vow of austerity, standing balanced upon his thumb for a hundred years.
