Vaiśampāyana said: “Among those sages were Sthūlākṣa, Śabalākṣa, Kaṇva, Medhātithi, and Kṛśa; and also Nārada and Parvata, together with Sudhanvā and the Brahmin Ekata.” Here the epic continues its reverent catalogue of eminent ṛṣis—figures of austerity, sacred learning, and the transmission of dharma—thereby affirming that moral authority in the Mahābhārata rests upon the witness and presence of realized seers.

By naming revered ṛṣis, the text reinforces that dharma is preserved and authenticated through the lives and testimony of realized sages; ethical instruction (anuśāsana) is presented as rooted in an authoritative sacred lineage rather than mere opinion.
Vaiśampāyana continues a catalogue of eminent sages present/remembered in the context of instruction, listing Sthūlākṣa, Śabalākṣa, Kaṇva, Medhātithi, Kṛśa, Nārada, Parvata, Sudhanvā, and Ekata.
