That joy is not attainable—even for one who dwells in heaven and has access to every pleasure. The supreme delight that human beings gain by living on the sandy banks of the Gaṅgā is of a higher order, surpassing celestial enjoyments.

Educational Q&A

Spiritual joy born of proximity to a sacred tīrtha (the Gaṅgā) and a dharmic way of life is portrayed as superior to pleasure-based happiness, even the refined enjoyments of heaven.

A Siddha is praising the unique, unsurpassed delight and merit associated with dwelling on the banks of the Gaṅgā, contrasting it with the limited nature of heavenly enjoyment dependent on sense-pleasures.
