Brāhmaṇya-प्रश्नः — The Inquiry into Attaining Brāhmaṇya

यह तीर्थ-सेवनका कार्य परम पवित्र, पुण्यप्रद, स्वर्गकी प्राप्तिका सर्वोत्तम साधन और वेदोंका गुप्त रहस्य है। प्रत्येक तीर्थ पावन और स्नानके योग्य होता है ।। इदं दद्याद् द्विजातीनां साधोरात्महितस्य च । सुहृदां च जपेत् कर्णे शिष्यस्यानुगतस्य च,तीर्थोका यह माहात्म्य द्विजातियोंके, अपने हितैषी श्रेष्ठ पुरुषके, सुह्दोंके तथा अनुगत शिष्यके ही कानमें डालना चाहिये
idaṃ dadyād dvijātīnāṃ sādhōr ātma-hitasya ca | suhṛdāṃ ca japet karṇe śiṣyasyānugatasya ca ||
This teaching on the greatness of visiting tīrthas is supremely purifying, bestows merit, and is held to be an excellent means to attain heaven; every tīrtha is holy and fit for ritual bathing. It should be imparted only to the twice-born (dvija), to a virtuous person who seeks his own true good, to trusted friends, and to a devoted, disciplined disciple—whispered privately, as a guarded Vedic secret.
