Ajadriya said: “By performing ritual purification at Kalaviḍka and repeatedly taking water (ablutions), one gains the merit equivalent to bathing in many sacred fords. And a man who bathes at Agneḥ-pura (Agni’s sacred place) attains residence in Agnikanyāpura (the city/realm of Agni’s maiden).”
अजड्रिय उवाच
Ritual purity and disciplined pilgrimage practices (ablution and tīrtha-bathing) are presented as dharmic acts that generate great merit—sometimes equated with the fruits of many pilgrimages—and can lead to exalted post-mortem destinations.
The speaker is listing the merits (phala) of specific sacred places: purification at Kalaviḍka is said to yield the benefit of bathing at many tīrthas, and bathing at Agni’s sacred site grants residence in Agnikanyāpura.
