One who goes without food for a full month attains spiritual accomplishment within that very month. Above all, whoever bathes at the sacred ford of Mahāśrama and, day after day, performs the Agnihotra with a purified intention while keeping a month-long fast becomes perfected in that same span.
अजड्रिय उवाच
Disciplined austerity joined with purity and daily Vedic duty (Agnihotra) is presented as a direct means to spiritual accomplishment; the emphasis is on sustained self-control and sanctified intention rather than mere hardship.
Ajadriya describes a specific vow: bathing at the Mahāśrama sacred place and performing Agnihotra each day while fasting for a month, stating that such observance yields siddhi within the same month.
