Bhishma said: Then that woman said to him, “So be it; let it be as you say.” Taking up a divine oil, she brought a bathing-cloth. The episode advances the ethical tone of the dialogue by showing prompt assent, hospitality, and the careful preparation for a purificatory act—outer cleanliness serving as a support for inner discipline and dharma.
भीष्म उवाच
Read ethically, the verse highlights readiness to cooperate in a dharmic course of action and the importance of preparatory purity—material arrangements (oil, bathing cloth) supporting a larger moral or spiritual purpose.
A woman agrees to what has been proposed (“So be it”) and immediately brings divine oil and a bathing cloth, indicating preparations for bathing/ablution or a purificatory procedure within the ongoing dialogue.
