Aṣṭāvakra–Strī-saṃvāda: Dhṛti, hospitality, and a dispute on autonomy

vṛddhāṃ paryakakam āsīnāṃ sarvābharaṇabhūṣitām |

Bhishma said: “There he saw an aged, time-worn old woman, seated upon a bed, wearing spotless garments and adorned with every kind of ornament.” The scene underscores the contrast between bodily decay and outward adornment, inviting reflection on dignity, perception, and the ethical duty to look beyond appearances.
