गर्ग उवाच चतुःषष्ट्यड्रमददत्‌ कलाज्ञानं ममाद्भुतम्‌ | सरस्वत्यास्तटे तुष्टो मनोयज्ञेन पाण्डव,गर्गने कहा--पाण्डुनन्दन! मैंने सरस्वतीके तटपर मानस यज्ञ करके भगवान्‌ शिवको संतुष्ट किया था। इससे प्रसन्न होकर उन्होंने मुझे चौंसठ कलाओंका अदभुत ज्ञान प्रदान किया। मुझे मेरे ही समान एक सहसखतर ब्रह्मवादी पुत्र दिये तथा पुत्रोंसहित मेरी दस लाख वर्षकी आयु नियत कर दी

garga uvāca catuḥṣaṣṭy-aḍramadadat kalājñānaṃ mamādbhutam | sarasvatyās taṭe tuṣṭo manoyajñena pāṇḍava ||

Garga said: “O Pāṇḍava, on the bank of the Sarasvatī I performed a sacrifice within the mind, and thus pleased Lord Śiva. Delighted, he granted me wondrous knowledge of the sixty-four arts.”
