(Rudra-Stavarāja) — Exempla of Śiva’s Boons and the Hymn’s Phalaśruti

Vāyu said: “In this very way, other gods too free themselves from the bondage of worldly existence—by praising the Lord. For human beings, apart from taking refuge in the Divine (Mahādeva), there is no other power, no austerity-born strength, by which release from saṃsāra can be attained.”

Educational Q&A

Liberation from saṃsāra is presented as attainable through devotion—specifically praise and refuge in Mahādeva—rather than relying solely on one’s independent power or even the merit of austerities.

Vāyu speaks about the practice of the gods themselves: they overcome worldly bondage by praising the Lord, and he extends the point to humans, asserting that no alternative force or tapas can grant the same release without taking refuge in Mahādeva.
