शक्तितश्नरितं वक्ष्ये प्रसादात्‌ तस्य धीमत: । अप्राप्य तु ततो<नुज्ञां न शक्‍्यः स्तोतुमी श्वरः,परंतु मैं अपनी शक्तिके अनुसार उन बुद्धिमान्‌ महादेवजीकी ही कृपासे संक्षिप्त अर्थ, पद और अक्षरोंसे युक्त उनके चरित्र एवं स्तोत्रका वर्णन करूँगा। उनकी आज्ञा प्राप्त किये बिना उन महेश्वरकी स्तुति नहीं की जा सकती है

Transliteration

śaktitaḥ saṅkṣiptaṁ vakṣye prasādāt tasya dhīmataḥ | aprāpya tu tato 'nujñāṁ na śakyaḥ stotum īśvaraḥ ||

Translation

Vāyu said: “Relying on my own limited capacity, I shall present a concise account—of his deeds and a hymn to him—only through the gracious favor of that wise Mahādeva. Yet without first obtaining his permission, it is not possible to offer praise to that Supreme Lord.”
