Vāyu said: “Just as their feeling and attachment rests upon food, so will their feeling toward you be. As long as gods and humans continue to cherish and depend upon food, their regard for you will endure in the same measure.”
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse teaches that reverence and attachment follow the source of sustenance: as long as beings value food as life-supporting, they will value and honor the power/person associated with enabling that sustenance. It highlights gratitude and the ethical recognition of what maintains life.
Vāyu speaks a boon-like assurance: he declares that the regard of gods and humans toward the addressed person will mirror their regard for food—enduring as long as food remains beloved and necessary.
