Maheshvara said: If those men do at last emerge from that hell, then only after the passage of many years do they obtain another birth—and that too in a despised and degraded family. Thus, those who scorn elders and teachers, and who show contempt for venerable persons, fall into suffering and, even after release, reap the consequence of being born among censured communities, for the law of dharma declares that disrespect toward the worthy leads to spiritual and social downfall.
श्रीमहेश्वर उवाच
Disrespect toward elders, teachers, and venerable persons is a grave ethical fault that leads to hellish suffering; even after release, the karmic residue manifests as an inferior and censured rebirth, underscoring accountability across lifetimes.
Maheśvara is describing the post-mortem fate of wrongdoers: they suffer in hell, and if they eventually emerge, it is only after a long duration; then they are reborn in a degraded family as a consequence of their prior contemptuous conduct.
