Discerning Dharma in Accord with Time
वीतरागा विमुच्यन्ते पुरुषा: कर्मबन्धनै: । कर्मणा मनसा वाचा ये न हिंसन्ति किंचन
vītarāgā vimucyante puruṣāḥ karmabandhanaiḥ | karmaṇā manasā vācā ye na hiṃsanti kiṃcana ||
Those men whose attachment has completely fallen away are released from the fetters of karma. They who do not harm anyone in any way—by deed, by mind, or by speech—become free from the bonds created by action.
श्रीमहेश्वर उवाच
Liberation from karmic bondage arises from two linked disciplines: detachment (vītarāga) and complete non-violence (ahiṃsā) in the three channels of conduct—body (karma), mind (manas), and speech (vāc).
Śrī Maheśvara is instructing on the ethical-spiritual means to transcend karmic bonds, emphasizing that inner intention and speech are as morally decisive as outward action.
