Discerning Dharma in Accord with Time
इति श्रीमहाभारते अनुशासनपर्वणि दानधर्मपर्वणि उमामहेश्व॒रसंवादे चतुश्चत्वारिंशदधिकशततमो< ध्याय:
iti śrīmahābhārate anuśāsanaparvaṇi dānadharmaparvaṇi umāmaheśvarasaṃvāde catuścatvāriṃśad-adhikaśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ
Thus, in the Śrī Mahābhārata, within the Anuśāsana Parva—specifically in the section on the dharma of gifts and charity—this concludes the dialogue between Umā and Maheśvara, marking the one-hundred-and-fiftieth chapter. This line stands as a formal colophon, setting the teaching within its textual and ethical frame: righteous giving, spoken through a divine conversation.
श्रीमहेश्वर उवाच
This verse is a colophon rather than a doctrinal statement: it frames the surrounding teaching as part of the Mahābhārata’s instruction on dāna-dharma (the ethics of giving), delivered through the dialogue of Umā and Maheśvara.
The text formally closes a chapter of the Umā–Maheśvara dialogue within the Anuśāsana Parva, identifying the work, parva, thematic subsection (dāna-dharma), and the chapter number (150).
