Rudra-Śiva: Names, Two Natures, and the Logic of Epithets (रुद्रनाम-बहुरूपत्व-प्रकरणम्)

Maheshvara said: “When the period of brahmacarya has been completed, the twice-born, having obtained his teacher’s permission, should perform the samāvartana (graduation from studentship). Thereafter, returning to household life, he should, according to the prescribed rites, obtain a suitable wife in keeping with his station.”
श्रीमहेश्वर उवाच
The verse lays down āśrama-dharma: after completing brahmacarya, one should not act independently but seek the guru’s consent, formally conclude studentship through samāvartana, and then enter gṛhastha life through a lawful, ritually sanctioned marriage with a suitable partner.
Śrī-Maheśvara is instructing on proper conduct and life-stages. He describes the transition from student life to household life: permission from the teacher, the rite of samāvartana, and then marriage performed according to prescribed rules.
