Bhishma links sincere honor/worship (pūjā) of the worthy with ethical strength and auspicious outcomes, stating that such reverence brings his satisfaction and guards the devotee from ‘parābhava’—defeat or downfall.
In the Anushasana Parva’s instruction on dharma, Bhishma continues advising Yudhishthira. Here he declares that he is pleased with noble humans who act in the prescribed manner, and he promises that those who worship/honor him will not meet defeat.
