Bhishma said: “In that celestial car are pillars of crystal and columns of vajra-hard substance. Upon it shines a beautifully fashioned altar-platform, and there swans and sārasas continually call. He mounts that vast vimāna and moves about at will. He who, when the eleventh day arrives, partakes of the havi (the sacrificial portion), and who for twelve months continually offers into Agni Jātavedas—such a disciplined observer attains the fruit of sustained ritual conduct.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse emphasizes disciplined religious observance: keeping a timed vow (linked with the eleventh day/Ekādaśī) and sustaining offerings into Agni over a full year, presenting steadiness and restraint as a dharmic path to merit.
Bhishma is instructing Yudhiṣṭhira in Anuśāsana Parva on vows and sacrificial disciplines, describing a practitioner who partakes of consecrated oblation at the prescribed time and performs regular fire-offerings to Agni (Jātavedas) for twelve months.
