Educational Q&A

The verse presents a karmic-fruit teaching: righteous conduct (as described in the surrounding discourse) yields exalted posthumous results—symbolized by a splendid vimāna and residence in lofty celestial realms among revered beings.

In Bhīṣma’s instruction during the Anuśāsana Parva, he describes the specific heavenly attainments granted to a person who fulfills the prescribed dharmic practice being discussed, portraying the reward as a peacock-and-swan-yoked vimāna and dwelling in the Saptarṣi realm with Apsarās.
