Bhīṣma said: “The radiance of that man becomes like the splendor of the sun, and his nature becomes clear and open like the sky. He who lives as a sage—self-controlled, a conqueror of anger, restraining the impulses of lust and the urges of the belly, offering oblations in the three sacred fires according to rule, and devoted to the daily twilight worship—who, being purified, takes his food only while observing the many disciplines described earlier: such a person becomes spotless like the sky, and his brilliance shines like sunlight. O King, having gone to heaven with his own body, he becomes like a god.”
