तेजसा वपुषा लक्ष्म्या भ्राजते रश्मिवानिव । वह वहाँ सुधारसका भोजन करता और सबके मनको हर लेनेवाला कान्तिमान् रूप धारण करता है। वह अपने तेज, सुन्दर शरीर तथा अंगकान्तिसे सूर्यकी भाँति प्रकाशित होता है
tejasā vapuṣā lakṣmyā bhrājate raśmivān iva |
Bhishma said: “He shines with spiritual power, with a beautiful form, and with auspicious splendor—radiant like the sun with its rays.” There he partakes of ambrosial food and assumes a captivating, luminous form. By his tejas, his fair body, and the glow of his limbs, he gleams like the sun.
भीष्म उवाच
True excellence (tejas) joined with auspicious fortune (lakṣmī) and a noble bearing manifests as visible radiance; inner virtue and divine favor are portrayed as outward brilliance that naturally attracts and uplifts others.
Bhishma is describing a person of exceptional merit—depicting him as shining with power, beauty, and prosperity, comparable to the sun’s ray-filled brilliance—within his broader instruction on ideals of conduct and qualities worthy of honor.
