मनो5भिरामा मधुरा रमयन्ति मदोत्कटा: । उस विमानमें अप्सराएँ भरी रहती हैं, गन्धर्वोके गीतोंकी मधुर ध्वनिसे वह विमान गूँजता रहता है। उस विमानमें दिव्य आभूषणोंसे विभूषित, शुभ लक्षणसम्पन्न, मनोभिराम, मदमत्त एवं मधुरभाषिणी रमणियाँ उस पुरुषका मनोरंजन करती हैं
mano'bhirāmā madhurā ramayanti madotkaṭāḥ | tasmin vimāne apsarāḥ pūrṇāḥ santi, gandharvagītānāṃ madhuradhvaninā sa vimānaḥ pratidhvanati | tasmin vimāne divyābharaṇavibhūṣitāḥ śubhalakṣaṇasampannāḥ mano'bhirāmāḥ madamattāḥ madhurabhāṣiṇyaś ca ramaṇyo naraṃ taṃ ramayanti |
Bhishma describes a celestial aerial car: it is filled with apsarases, and it continually resounds with the sweet music of the gandharvas. Within it, women adorned with divine ornaments—auspicious in every mark, captivating to the mind, exhilarated with joy, and sweet of speech—delight and entertain that man, hinting that such pleasure is a karmic fruit of merit, not dharma’s final end.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse presents heavenly enjoyment as a result of accumulated merit: dharmic action yields pleasing fruits, depicted as celestial music, beauty, and delight. At the same time, it implies an ethical hierarchy—pleasure is a consequence of dharma, not its substitute.
Bhishma is describing a celestial vimana associated with a meritorious man: it is filled with apsarases, echoes with gandharva music, and contains divinely adorned, auspicious, sweet-speaking women who entertain him.
