कार्तिक तु नरो मासं यः कुयदिकभोजनम् | शूरश्न बहुभार्यश्व कीर्तिमांश्नैव जायते,जो मनुष्य कार्तिक मासमें एक समय भोजन करता है, वह शूरवीर, अनेक भार्याओंसे संयुक्त और कीर्तिमान् होता है
Kārtike tu naro māsaṃ yaḥ kuryād ekabhोजनam | śūraś ca bahubhāryaś ca kīrtimāṃś caiva jāyate ||
Aṅgiras said: In the month of Kārtika, a person who undertakes the vow of eating only once a day is said to become endowed with heroic vigor, blessed with many wives, and possessed of lasting fame.
अंगियरा उवाच
Practicing disciplined restraint—specifically, eating only once daily during Kārtika—is presented as a dharmic observance that generates merit, yielding qualities like valor, social prosperity, and enduring fame.
Aṅgiras is enumerating the fruits of specific vows (vratas) and austerities; here he highlights the Kārtika-month observance of ekabhojana (single daily meal) and states the auspicious results attributed to it.
