भक्षयेच्छास्त्रदृष्टानि पर्वस्वपि विवर्जयेत् । शास्त्रोंमें जिन काष्ठोंका दाँतन निषिद्ध माना गया है, उन्हें सदा ही त्याग दे--कभी काममें न ले। शास्त्रविहित काष्ठका ही दन््तधावन करे; परंतु पर्वके दिन उसका भी परित्याग कर दे
bhakṣayecchāstradṛṣṭāni parvasv api vivarjayet |
Bhishma said: One should use only those tooth-cleaning sticks that are approved by the scriptures, and avoid those that the scriptures prohibit. Moreover, on festival or sacred observance days (parva-days), one should refrain even from the otherwise permitted tooth-stick, practicing restraint in keeping with dharma.
