Yudhiṣṭhira said: “Indeed, we Pāṇḍavas and the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra alike, having fallen under the sway of Time and anger, have done this blameworthy deed. O king, to what fate shall we now attain?”
युधिछिर उवाच
Even when events seem driven by Kāla (Time) and manyu (anger), one must recognize moral responsibility: actions done in rage become nindita (censured) and lead to anxiety about gati (future destiny). The verse highlights ethical self-scrutiny after violence.
Yudhiṣṭhira laments the catastrophic outcome of the conflict, admitting that both sides—Pāṇḍavas and Dhārtarāṣṭras—were swept along by Time and anger, and he fears the spiritual and moral consequences of the blameworthy deeds committed.
