Śama-prāptiḥ — Gautamī–Lubdhaka–Pannaga–Mṛtyu–Kāla-saṃvāda
Restraint through the Analysis of Karma and Time
।। नूनं हि पापकर्माणो धात्रा सृष्टा: सम हे नृप,नरेश्वर! निश्चय ही विधाताने हमें पापी ही रचा है। राजन! यदि आप मेरा प्रिय करना चाहते हैं तो मुझे ऐसा उपदेश दीजिये, जिससे परलोकमें भी मुझे इस पापसे छुटकारा मिल सके
Yudhiṣṭhira uvāca: nūnaṃ hi pāpakarmāṇo dhātrā sṛṣṭāḥ sma he nṛpa, nareśvara! niścayaṃ hi vidhātāsmān pāpīn eva racitavān. rājan! yadi tvaṃ mama priyaṃ kartum icchasi, tarhi mām evaṃ upadiśa, yena paraloke 'pi me 'smāt pāpāt vimokṣo bhavet.
Yudhiṣṭhira said: “Surely we are doers of sinful deeds—created so by the Ordainer, O king, O lord of men! It seems certain that the Creator has fashioned us as sinners. O ruler, if you wish to do what is dear to me, then instruct me in such a way that even in the next world I may be released from this sin.”
