Vaiśampāyana said: When the townsmen and the people of the countryside, satisfied, spoke thus, then Yayāti, the descendant of Nahuṣa, thereupon installed Pūru—his own son—upon his own kingdom.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
A ruler should ensure stable, dharmic succession aligned with the satisfaction and assent of the people; legitimacy is strengthened when governance reflects public welfare and consent.
After the citizens and provincial subjects express satisfaction, Yayāti (descendant of Nahuṣa) formally anoints his son Pūru as king over his own realm.
