As soon as he heard the news, the Bhārgava (Śukrācārya) came there and granted the king his audience. Seeing Śukra arrive, King Yayāti, lord of the earth, bowed in reverence to the Brahmin Kāvya; with hands joined, he stood humbly, showing that royal power is to be guided by respect for spiritual authority and learning.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights rājadharma expressed through ācāra: even a powerful king should honor learned Brahmins and teachers with humility, recognizing that spiritual and ethical guidance restrains and refines political power.
Śukrācārya (the Bhārgava, also called Kāvya) arrives after hearing the situation. King Yayāti, seeing him come, respectfully salutes him, joins his palms, and stands bowed in deference.
