Yayāti–Devayānī Dialogue and Śukra’s Consent
गुरोरुष्प सकाशे तु दशवर्षशतानि स: । अनुज्ञात: कचो गन्तुमियेष त्रिदशालयम्,कचने एक हजार वर्षोतक गुरुके समीप रहकर अपना व्रत पूरा कर लिया। तब घर जानेकी अनुमति मिल जानेपर कचने देवलोकमें जानेका विचार किया
guror uśpasa-kāśe tu daśa-varṣa-śatāni saḥ | anujñātaḥ kaco gantum iyeṣa tridaśālayam ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Having stayed in the presence of his teacher Uśanas for a full hundred decades of years, Kaca completed his vowed discipline. When he was granted permission to depart, he resolved to go to the abode of the gods—thus bringing to a righteous close a student’s long service and taking respectful leave of the guru after fulfilling his commitment.
