वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse functions as a record of names and followership, highlighting an epic ethic: individuals are remembered through their qualities (implied by meaningful names) and through their loyalties and associations, which shape reputation and historical memory.
Vaiśampāyana is reciting a list of persons—likely within a genealogical or retinue enumeration—naming several figures and then noting a pair described as followers of Nāgadatta.
