मातज्ी त्वथ शार्दूली श्वेता सुरभिरेव च । सर्वलक्षणसम्पन्ना सुरसा चैव भामिनी,क्रोधवशाने नौ प्रकारकी क्रोधजनित कन्याओंको जन्म दिया। उनके नाम ये हैं--मृगी, मृगमन्दा, हरी, भद्गमना, मातंगी, शार्दूली, श्वेता, सुरभि तथा सम्पूर्ण शुभ लक्षणोंसे सम्पन्न सुन्दरी सुरसा

vaiśampāyana uvāca |

matagī tv atha śārdūlī śvetā surabhir eva ca |

sarvalakṣaṇasampannā surasā caiva bhāminī |

krodhavaśāt nava prakārāḥ krodhajanita-kanyāḥ ajāyata | teṣāṃ nāmāni—mṛgī, mṛgamandā, harī, bhadgamanā, mataṅgī, śārdūlī, śvetā, surabhi tathā sampūrṇa-śubha-lakṣaṇaiḥ sampannā sundarī surasā |

Vaiśampāyana said: Their names were Mataṅgī, Śārdūlī, Śvetā, Surabhī, and the lovely Surasā—endowed with every auspicious mark. These were the nine maidens born of wrath.
