Vaiśampāyana said: “Vinatā’s son Garuḍa is mighty, and so too is Aruṇa. And the venerable Bṛhaspati is also counted among the Ādityas.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse emphasizes recognition of divine status and rightful placement within the cosmic hierarchy: mighty beings like Garuḍa and Aruṇa, and the revered Bṛhaspati, are acknowledged as belonging to (or being counted among) the Ādityas, underscoring order, lineage, and sanctioned authority in the divine world.
Vaiśampāyana is listing or classifying prominent celestial figures. He notes Garuḍa’s and Aruṇa’s might and states that Bṛhaspati is reckoned among the Ādityas, situating these figures within a recognized divine grouping as part of a broader genealogical/cosmological account in the Ādi Parva.
