Vaiśampāyana said: O King, the six great seers—mind-born sons of Brahmā—have already been made known to you. The seventh was Sthāṇu; and Sthāṇu’s eleven sons, renowned for their supreme radiance, are celebrated in tradition.

Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the authority of lineage and transmission: sacred knowledge and social memory are preserved through recognized genealogies of seers. It frames spiritual eminence (tejas) as a marker of dharmic stature within these lineages.

Vaiśampāyana continues a genealogical account: he reminds the king that the six mind-born sages of Brahmā have been listed, then introduces Sthāṇu as the seventh and signals the forthcoming enumeration of Sthāṇu’s eleven illustrious sons.
