तं॑ भुवः शोधनायेन्द्र उवाच पुरुषोत्तमम् । अंशेनावतरेत्येवं तथेत्याह च तं हरि:,उन भगवान् पुरुषोत्तमके पास जाकर इन्द्रने उनसे कहा--'प्रभो! आप पृथ्वीका शोधन (भार-हरण) करनेके लिये अपने अंशसे अवतार ग्रहण करें।” तब श्रीहरिने “तथास्तु' कहकर उनकी प्रार्थना स्वीकार कर ली
Transliteration
Taṁ bhuvaḥ śodhanāyendra uvāca puruṣottamam | Aṁśenāvatara ity evaṁ tathety āha ca taṁ hariḥ ||
Translation
Then Indra addressed Puruṣottama (the Supreme Person), saying, “Lord, for the cleansing of the earth—removing her oppressive burden—please descend by a portion of Yourself.” Hari (Viṣṇu) replied, “So be it.”
