Duḥṣantasya Vana-praveśaḥ

सत्यवत्युवाच विद्धि मां भगवन्‌ कनन्‍्यां सदा पितृवशानुगाम्‌,सत्यवतीने कहा--भगवन्‌! आपको मालूम होना चाहिये कि मैं सदा अपने पिताके अधीन रहनेवाली कुमारी कन्या हूँ

satyavaty uvāca—viddhi māṃ bhagavan kanyāṃ sadā pitṛvaśānugām |

Satyavatī said: “O venerable sir, know this of me: I am an unmarried maiden, ever living in obedience to my father’s authority.”
