त॑ चोपाध्याय: प्रेषषामास वत्सोपमन्यो गा रक्षस्वेति,उसे उपाध्यायने आदेश दिया--“वत्स उपमन्यु! तुम गौओंकी रक्षा करो”
taṁ copādhyāyaḥ preṣayāmāsa vatsopamanyo gā rakṣasveti
Then the teacher dispatched him with an instruction: “My child Upamanyu, go and guard the cows.” The episode frames the student’s training in obedience, humility, and disciplined service (guru-sevā) as a foundation for learning and character.

The verse highlights guru-śāsana (accepting the teacher’s command) and sevā (service) as essential disciplines that cultivate responsibility, humility, and readiness for higher learning.
