apatyasnehasaṁyuktā jaritā bahu cintayat |
Vaiśampāyana said: Jaritā, bound by deep affection for her offspring, became greatly anxious—her mind turning again and again to the welfare of her children after the departure of the sage Māṇḍapāla.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical weight of parental responsibility: attachment to one’s children naturally brings vigilance and concern, reminding that care and protection of dependents is a lived aspect of dharma.
In the Māṇḍapāla episode, Jaritā—concerned for her young—becomes intensely worried after Māṇḍapāla goes away, her thoughts fixed on the safety and future of the offspring.
