प्रदीप्तं खाण्डवं दृष्ट्वा ये स्युस्तत्र निवासिन: । परम॑ यत्नमातिष्ठन्‌ पावकस्य प्रशान्तये,खाण्डववनको जलते देख वहाँ रहनेवाले प्राणियोंने उस आगको बुझानेके लिये बड़ा यत्न किया

Transliteration

pradīptaṃ khāṇḍavaṃ dṛṣṭvā ye syus tatra nivāsinaḥ | paramaṃ yatnam ātiṣṭhan pāvakasya praśāntaye ||

Translation

Vaiśampāyana said: Seeing the Khāṇḍava forest ablaze, the beings who dwelt there exerted the utmost effort to quell the fire.
